Apple released the Apple Music app for the PlayStation 5, albeit late today. This makes the PS5 the first console to receive Apple Music after rumors earlier this month that the service could soon come to consoles. It’s gratifying that a new music app is available on PlayStation 5 after Spotify.
With the new app, PlayStation 5 s will have access to all Music content, including over 90 million songs, more than 30,000 curated playlists, 4K music videos, and Music Radio.
Apple’s music service integrates neatly into the PlayStation 5 interface. It can be accessed via Control Center by pressing the PS button on the DualSense controller. The app offers recommendations based on the game played. You also get full background playback for music and videos
Neither Sony nor Apple has yet clarified whether Apple Music on the PlayStation 5 s lossless or high-resolution lossless audio. There is also no mention of Dolby Atmos, as the PlayStation 5 cannot solve Atmos naturally.
And there’s no information yet on when the app will arrive on Xbox consoles. Although Apple provides the Apple TV+ app for these machines, it is also not available on PlayStation 4 consoles. The app for PlayStation 5 is now available for and installation for s with subscriptions. The app, which we expect to come to Xbox, will make its difference with Dolby Atmos .
